Salò
Set off on an unforgettable journey along the coast of the Sirmione Peninsula to the magnificent "Grottoes of Catullus." From there, we will cross the lake westward to reach the majestic "Rocca di Manerba," a natural park with a spectacular cliff overlooking the lake. Our adventure continues to the first island of the tour, the picturesque "San Biagio Island," a small yet enchanting oasis that once served as a hunting reserve for nobility.
We will then proceed to the queen of our lake's islands, the grand "Borghese Island." Owned by the Cavazza family, this island has changed names over the centuries, reflecting its various owners, and has been inhabited since Roman times. Its history boasts the presence of illustrious figures such as St. Francis of Assisi and Napoleon.
After circumnavigating the island, we will sail towards Portese, skirting Punta Capo Corno, which marks the beginning of the Gulf of Salò. This elegant town of Roman origin, once an Italian Republic during the time of Mussolini, sits in the heart of the lake's most important gulf. We will then continue in the northern part of the gulf, starting from Barbarano with the imposing Palazzo Terzi Martinengo, and proceed towards Gardone Riviera, a charming village nestled in lush vegetation at the foot of Monte Pizzoccolo, home to the Vittoriale of Gabriele D'Annunzio.
We will pass by the historic Torre San Marco and Villa Fiordaliso, concluding our coastal journey with Fasano and the first lemon groves of the famous riviera. Finally, we will return to Sirmione, enriched by a day filled with the natural and historical wonders of Lake Garda.
